We spend thousands of dollars a month on billboards, newspaper articles, advertising specialty items, radio spots, and direct mail pieces to try and get our name out to the general public. We then wait to see if our advertising dollars turn into sales. We then take the money from those sales and invest it into more postcards, brochures, and other various advertising methods. Is there anything wrong with this process? No. As a matter of fact, without this process I wouldn't have a job.
But let's look at the way the clothing industry does it. They make a product, they advertse it. We see it, we like it, we want it. We go to the store and pay a ridiculous amount of money for that one item that bears the "IN" logo. We wear it, carry it, and show it to our friends. Not only is that company getting free advertising, but we actually paid them for the opportunity to advertise their product. Now that's good marketing!
The moral of the story is.....THERE IS ALWAYS A BETTER WAY! Your way might be great, but let's work together to make it even greater! |
